A Salisbury institution since 1971, built on family, hard work, and clean laundry.
Speedwash Laundromats has been a part of Salisbury's fabric since 1971. Started by a desire to expand from coin-operated car washes and cigarette sales, Lewis Meng Sr. entered the laundromat business — quickly growing to 10 stores in 10 years.
When Andy Meng took over, the focus shifted to two flagship stores with huge front-load washers, A/C, and clean restrooms — something new at the time for coin-op laundry. These weren't just laundromats; they were the cleanest, fastest laundry experience in Rowan County.
After 50 years of leadership, Andy passed the torch to the next generation. Today, siblings William Meng and Morgan Godwin proudly carry the Speedwash legacy forward — combining the same commitment to quality with modern improvements that keep the stores running better than ever.
Lewis expanded from coin-op car washes into laundry — and never looked back. Within a decade, Speedwash had grown to 10 locations across the region.
Andy consolidated the business into two flagship Salisbury locations and pioneered front-load washers, air conditioning, and clean restrooms in coin-op laundry — raising the bar for the industry.
After 50 years of Andy's leadership, the third generation stepped in. William and Morgan have brought modern upgrades to the stores while keeping the family's original commitment to quality and community.
Two clean, modern stores ready to serve you any time of day or night.
